Indoor air pollution Intervention Trials:

Background:

Indoor air pollution is identified as one of the leading risk factors for the current disease burden in low and middle income countries. Indoor air pollution is associated with increased risk of low birth weight, still births, acute respiratory infection in both children and adults and chronic respiratory conditions in adults.

Upcoming Projects on IAP:

  • Indoor Air pollution Intervention Trial- An international collaboration with INDEPTH Network and Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute on a multi site intervention trial to study the risk decrease in respiratory health in children and their mothers in the HDSS settings in Africa and Asia.
  • National collaboration with Indian Institute of Tropical Meterology, Chest Research Foundation and Bharati Vidyapeeth on Indoor air pollution and ventilation rates in rural and semi urban settings of Pune district.
